Melbourne, 7 April —In a tragic road accident last night, Tirtha Biswas, a 28-year-old Bangladeshi student, lost his life around 8 PM on 6 April.
Rajib, a member of the Bangladeshi community living in Geelong, informed OTN Bangla that Tirtha had gone out for a pizza delivery when the accident occurred. His car reportedly crashed into a tree and was severely damaged. Within ten minutes of the crash, police arrived at the scene, but by then, it was too late to save him.
Tirtha had arrived in Australia just a year ago on a student visa and was pursuing a degree in Information Technology (IT) at Deakin University’s Geelong campus. His wife, Ritika Chowdhury, joined him in Australia this past February 2025 on a spouse visa.
Tirtha was originally from Chattogram, Bangladesh. His father, Chandan Biswas, is a well-known lawyer in the Chattogram legal community.
At this heart-wrenching time, Tirtha leaves behind his newlywed wife and grieving parents. News of the incident has plunged his family in Bangladesh into deep mourning.
The Bangladeshi community in Australia has also been shaken by this sudden and tragic loss.
